Glen and Nora, with few exceptions, showed their horses themselves
with the help of their children and grand children. Evelyn
showed halter mares for Glen and Nora including the 1957 dun
mare, Sun Arrow. Evelyn showed Sun Arrow for a 2nd place out of
eighty 2 year old fillies at the 1959 Denver Stock Show. Sun
Arrow went on to earn 20 halter points and produce 1966 AQHA
Champion, Picos Arrow by Poco Pico and 1966 Superior Halter and
1967 AQHA Champion, Matt Sun by Eternal Sun. Over the years many
of the grand children showed ONO weanling foals in futurities
and weanling foal classes then lead colts through the sale ring.
Nora insisted that many of the weanling colts be shown prior to
the annual fall production sales. The ONO ranches’ “ Best In The
West “ production sales were held yearly in September from 1960
until 1978. Over the years they invited friends to be guest
consigners in their sales including Albert Lopez, Tommy Maupin,
Don Stearns, Tony Sattler, Lloyde Rypkema, Johnny Johnson, Jack
Smeek, Carol Page, Zoder Golliher and many others.
